A Little Farewell

I am done with my undergraduate experience, and I am done with higher education for the foreseeable future. After four whirlwind years in the city that molded me into the woman I always wanted to be, I am leaving New Orleans, and I have no current plans to return.

To me, New Orleans is the greatest city on Earth. I am confident that I could travel from one corner of the world to the other and I would not find a place as magical and singular as this great city. Every night I spent roaming these dirty and decadent streets with my closest friends, every sidewalk cracked by the roots of oak trees that I’ve tripped over, every impassioned kiss in the middle of a pulsing dance floor, every moment has filled me with indescribable joy that overshadows any ephemeral sadness I may have suffered. This city is like a mother, and she raised me from a typical Louisiana girl into an extraordinary woman of the world. I let her consume me, and I was justly rewarded for doing so.

I ache to leave her, but I know I can’t continue on here. It’s time to take what this city taught me and carry it to others throughout the world. I am so grateful for the time I was blessed to spend here, and I will never forget the City That Care Forgot.

As I go on to my next journey, I’m not sure how active I’ll remain on Tumblr. Now that I’ve graduated I have even less free time as I become more impassioned about post-collegiate life. However, you are always free to check out my travel blog (saunterlust.wordpress.com), where I will be hopefully updating with more regularity as my move to Thailand draws near.

Take care, onwards & upwards!
